“Minecraft,” a widely popular video game loved by millions worldwide, is entering school districts throughout the U.S. as a highly-effective educational resource. From the Hour of Code to classroom projects, “Minecraft” encourages students to collaborate and engage in an exciting environment. However, “Minecraft” was not originally made to be used as an educational resource, resulting in many of its features to raise red flags to both parents and educators throughout the world. Some of these issues include unmonitored chat throughout gameplay, and excessive profanity and brutality in its multiplayer feature. High school students Mitchell Brown and Scotty Vrablik will introduce the several solutions to the problems that concern educators and parents using “Minecraft” at home and in education.
