Description: I will discuss how I increase global awareness and culturally responsive teaching in my kindergarten classroom through the use of technology. I will discuss how culturally responsive teaching can impact learning and brain function. I use powerful pictures of kids from around the world to have powerful discussions during morning meeting. This allows me to implement culturally responsive teaching while allowing the students practice their language skills. I also teach my students about diverse world changers through a variety of books and videos. They completed a S.O.L.E. (Student Organized Learning Environment) project where students used technology such as Pebble Go and Epic! to choose which world changer they would like to further research. This project engaged students through choice and allowed them to be independent with technology in their learning. I will discuss how I incorporate global awareness through play and STEAM
