How do you bring current and controversial topics into your classroom and help your students process and understand the events in the world around them? This session will look at ways to bring current and controversial issues and events into the classroom though both social media and mainstream media. Talking about these events can cause arguments, raise voices, and get your students fired up but it will also engage them with the issues that will make them informed and active participants in a democratic society
