Trends in national jobs data, workforce income trend data, college completion and related student loan debt data as well as degreed student underemployment data have to be informing our career and college counseling programs right now. The good news is that there are more sophisticated tools available today to help students, staff and parents understand both where the jobs are, what those jobs are likely to pay, and which training paths make the most sense from a "return on investment" perspective, which is the context from which schools have to begin shaping their career and college advisement programs if we want to improve outcomes after high school.
