Guided by the work of Dr. Liz Kolb (Learning First, Technology Second) and Diane Sweeney (Student-Centered Coaching) and nicely aligned with our district’s Strategic Plan, two first year coaches spearhead an initiative defining the role of technology within our classrooms. Working strategically to transform the definition of coaching, we were able to launch a 1:1 initiative focusing on opportunities for collaboration and creation. By curating a deep understanding of the device’s purpose and native abilities, we’ve shifted the conversation from “How do I access this tool?” to “What do we want students to be able to do?” Providing professional learning around instructional initiatives, we’ve efficiently and successfully altered the conversation from tools to teaching in one short year.
