We’ll explore project based learning through the use of Google’s famous 20% time philosophy and look at tech tools that integrate smoothly into this unique student learning & teacher assessment process. Attendees will be challenged to consider their own learning environment as a potential space for creating student choice in learning. Educators (classroom and administrators) will see how a teacher can go from 0 to 100 with the famous 20% Time concept. Throughout this session, the why, what, and how of 20% time projects will be illustrated. Attendees will hear about the benefits, challenges, and other things to consider throughout the journey into giving students choice in their project based learning. There will be a key focus on how educators can introduce, guide, and assess the learning throughout a 20% Time project. Technology tool options for all three stages will be presented for educators to consider. Finally, attendees will be exposed to a slew of “end results” that have come from the presenters own students over the past 7 years of 20% Time projects.
