The presenters employ a platform-neutral approach to Computer Science for neurodiverse students emphasizing the structure of programming. Students develop computational and critical thinking across devices such as Spheros, Arduinos, Lego Mindstorms, Ozobots, Raspberry Pis. We teach coding through GUIs (graphical user interface) eventually learning more traditional programming processes, where students using Audinos and Raspberry Pis.

We develop a broader knowledge base by teaching concepts like the physical infrastructure of the internet, cryptocurrency, the history of computers, and careers. We educate through whole class instruction, discussions, writing activities, vocabulary development with co-teaching and differentiated instruction.

Students enrolled at Brehm have unique learning profiles and require an individualized approach that taps into strengths and compensates for challenges. Lessons utilize checklists, rubrics, and lists which form the basis of authentic and ethical grading practices. Attendees will gain practical approaches to enhance their schools existing curriculum or better structure new clubs and classes.
