This session will detail how a makerspace was leveraged to differentiate assessment and increase engagement in a high school, cross categorical special education classroom with struggling readers. This session will focus on explaining the use of a makerspace project as a final exam for any content area. Participant will see examples of student projects as well as obtain an overview of why this approach was chosen and how it was graded. Students utilized student choice to demonstrate their understanding of literacy skills and strategies taught throughout the semester.
