Profile
Over the past fourteen years, I have worked as a passionate educator serving as an assistant principal and as an award-winning physical education teacher. I am driven by positively contributing to the lives of students, families, communities, and staff in the varying positions I have held and will hold throughout my career.
As an assistant principal, my team and I accomplished several goals. Our initiatives focused on purposeful change that ranged from reinforcing instructional best practices, refining the RTI process, transitioning to a standards-based grading model, and restructuring teacher evaluation. As a result, our students’ MAP Scores increased in math and reading by 10% during the first year of our newly established administration team within the school.
As a teacher, I have had the privilege of working at both the state and national levels as a presenter at the SHAPE American Institute, IAPHERD State Conference, and IDEA. I’ve also served as the IAPEHRD North Eastern District Conference Chair, Physical Education Blue Ribbon Evaluator, and a delegate at the IAPHERD Leadership Conference.
Outside of the classroom, I own a business that provides in-house wellness programs in residential and commercial real estate. I also take personal training clients and teach group fitness from time to time. Taking clients that range from professional athletes to people stepping into the gym for the very first time has continued to solidify my belief that quality health and physical education programs can create an impact that lasts a lifetime.
I hope to bring these experiences to my new role as we learn and grow as professionals together. I look forward to the work ahead and will work to provide the very best for our staff, students, families, and our community at Chicago Public Schools.
