Lee began his career as a high school technology instructor in 1981. He subsequently took a position with the the Lake County Educational Service Center as a technology consultant and trainer in 1986. Gurnee District 56 made Lee their first Tech Coordinator in 1992. And in 2003 Lee took a position as Tech Director at Zion-Benton Township High School District 126 where he retired in 2016.

After retiring Lee continued his involvement in ed tech by co-founding the K12 Tech Forum which is an organization that brings K-12 technology decision makers together to share, network, and learn. He also took a position with GHA Technologies where he works with schools to help them find technology solutions that meet their needs and budgets.

Lee has been a frequent presenter at ICE throughout the years. His first presentation was back in the 80's doing a session called "Mac Tips and Tricks" which was always a crowd favorite. More recently he has done sessions on using students to provide tech support and interactive technologies in schools.

Lee developed the "10" Criteria for Success" during his Tech Director years. The criteria were drawn from his own experience as well as from the many great IT leaders he has known and worked with throughout his career.
